The police in Lagos have arrested two persons suspected to be examination fraudsters. Examination scripts belonging to the Lagos State Examination Board were found on them.

The suspects are Kamaru Sikiru and Rasaki Adio. A team of anti-robbery policemen attached to Elere police station, Agege, acting on a tip-off, arrested the suspects at Mulero Bus Stop, Iyana-Ipaja Road, Agege, on Tuesday.

This year, reported cases of examination malpractices trailed the just concluded Secondary School Certificate Examinations nationwide and WAEC had said it would probe the development.

Our correspondent learnt that the two suspects were agents of some unknown exam fraudsters, who usually paid them to get the scripts and other examination papers.

When the suspects could not give any explanation on how they got the papers, the policemen arrested them and took them to Elere police station for interrogation.

Spokesman for the state police command, Mr. Olubode Ojajuni, a deputy superintendent of police, who confirmed the arrest to our correspondent, noted that the suspects had made 'useful statements to the police."

Ojajuni said with the information gathered from the suspects, the police would soon arrest other members of the gang, who he said were still at large.

He said the suspects would soon be transferred to the state Criminal Investigations Department, Panti Street, Yaba, Lagos, for further investigations and possible prosecution.
