Institute honours Famutimi, 30 others


The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria will on Thursday, give awards to 31 individuals, products and corporate organisations in Nigeria.

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria will on Thursday, give awards to 31 individuals, products and corporate organisations in Nigeria.

A breakdown of the 31 recipients showed that 13 are top executives of different organisations who will be honoured with the institute's fellowship awards, 12 are corporate organisation, and six products.

Prominent among the recipients are the Chairman of the Tricontinental Oil Services Limited, Chief Olabintan Famutimi, in the individual category and The Punch Newspapers in the product category..

Famutimi obtained Bachelor of Science degreed from the University of Ibadan in 1971, and an Advanced Management Certificate from the Institute European d'Administration Des Affairs, Fountainebleau, France in 1981.

He had worked with various organisations, including UAC of Nigeria Plc, Pfizer Products Plc, RT Briscoe Nigeria Plc, Boots Company Nigeria Plc and the Nigerian Institute of Management. He is currently the Executive Chairman of the Nigerian Romanian Wood Industries Limited, and a Director of Goldlink Insurance Limited.

Other recipients include the Chairman/ Managing Director, Elizade Nigeria Limited, Chief Michael Ade Ojo; Managing Director, Banex Group of Companies, Dr. Victor Mbanisi; Managing Director, West African Portland Cement Company Plc, Mr. Ranti Sokunbi; Vice Chairman/CEO, Industrial and General Insurance Company Limited, Mr. Remi Olowude; Chief Sanni Omodele, of Tridok Nigeria Limited, and Managing Director Continental Re-Insurance Plc, Mr. Adeyemo Adejumo.

Others are Mr. Olarenwaju Ige of Equity Indemnity Insurance Company Limited; Mr. Joshua Adewale of PP Beverages Limited; Mr. Busola Olagoke Olayinka of EBAS Limited; Sales Director, Glaxo Smithkline, Mr. E. C. Onuzo; Managing Director, Red Star Express, Mr. Isaac Orolugbagbe, and Managing Director, ACB International Bank, Mr. John Udeka.

According to a statement made available to our correspondent in Lagos on Wednesday, the recipients were considered for the awards due to their contributions to the growth and development of the marketing profession and the nation's economy as a whole.

It stated that the institute would continue to recognise individuals, corporate organisations and products that have pushed up the indices of marketing professional practice in the company.

The indices listed by the institute include proactive activities and decision-making initiatives, consumer satisfaction orientation and the development of manpower for the growth of marketing in their various organisations and the general public.
