Following attacks on Port Harcourt and Ahoada Prisons, in Rivers State, by suspected cultists, residents of Port Harcourt, afraid of the consequences of the development, have started leaving the city.

Daily Sun investigation revealed that resident, especially those who hails from other states, are heading out of town. When Daily Sun visited bus terminals in Port Harcourt, scores of people were massed, majority of who were heading for Akwa Ibom State, Delta State, the Middle Belt and South eastern states.

One of the fleeing resident, Mrs. Etim, told Daily Sun at the Abali Park, Port Harcourt, that she did not need a prophet to tell her that unimaginable fire would soon engulf the city following the escape of the cultists and criminals from prison.
He revealed that her fear was predicated on the information that one of the cultists who escaped, Mr Soboma George, the second in command to Ateke Tom, had phoned his former boss and asked him to get prepared for war.

It would be recalled that armed men had attacked Port Harcourt Prison last Friday and released about 157 inmates, a majority of who were being held for cult and criminal activities. Among those who escaped are members of the Niger Delta Vigilance Group led by Ateke Tom.

To keep peace in Port Harcourt, armed soldiers have been drafted to the streets. Apart from the patrol of soldiers, helicopters belonging to the police are hovering over the city.
