Gani drags Obasanjo to EFCC

CHIEF Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) has lodged a petitioned against President Olusegun Obasanjo before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging that the President contravened the laws of the land by the grant of a university licence to himself and obtaining gifts in cash for Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Project to the tune of N6.5 billion as at May 14, 2005, contrary to Sections 98,100 and 104 of the Criminal Code, Cap 29, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria.

According to Chief Fawehinmi:

*General Obasanjo, as the President and Minister for Petroleum Resources, approved a licence and established a private university for himself.

*General Obasanjo, as the President and Minister for Petroleum Resources, asked for, received and obtained cash gifts to the tune of N6.5b for himself, when he launched the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Project on May 14, 2005, contrary to Section 98 of the Criminal Code, Cap 29, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria

*General Obasanjo, as the President and Minister for Petroleum Resources asked for, received and obtained gifts in cash for the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Project, to the tune of N6.5b as at May 14, 2005 contrary to Section 100 of the Criminal Code, Cap 29, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria.

*General Obasanjo, as the President and Minister for Petroleum Resources asked for, received and obtained for himself, benefit in cash to the tune of N6.5b as at May 14, 2005 on account of his office as the President of Nigeria, contrary to Section 104 of the Criminal Code, Cap 29, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria
