AKURE - RESPITE is coming the way of the physically challenged students of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko in Ondo State as the Pro-chancellor and the chairman of the governing council of the institution, Dr. Bode Olajumoke, will tomorrow perform the foundation laying ceremony of a special multi- million naira hostel accommodation to be donated to the physically challenged students of the university by him.
A statement by the image- maker of the university, Mr Dayo Awude, said that those expected to grace the occassion are the princial officers of the institution, including the Vice -Chancellor, Prof. Funso Akele, members of the public and the physically challenged students of the university.
Also, the Board of Trustees of the Adekunle Ajasin Foundation will be presenting pictorial wall charts to promote teaching and learning at the primary school level in the state tomorrow in Owo, according to Mrs Jumoke Anifowose, secretary to the foundation.
Meanwhile, 31 distinguished students from Ondo State have been given cash awards and certificates of merit for disguising themselves in this year's National and International Mathematics Olympiad competition.
The Mathematics competition is an annual event organized by the National Mathematical centre, Abuja.
Part of the objectives of the centre is to identify and encourage young talents in Mathematics and to prepare the country for a leading role in Mathematical science.
In pursuance of the effective execution and discharge of the responsibility of the centre, the annual Mathematics competition amongst students in SS1 to SS3 in the secondary school throughout the country was put in place.
At the award ceremony, the Education Commissioner, Dr Eniola Adewole said the students have proved their worth and distinguished themselves in the competition.
