Prisoners being held at Port Harcourt Prisons Friday broke out of prison. The jail break occurred in the evening hours, according to what the Telegraph learnt.

Information on the jail break is still hazy and scanty but this publication gathered that so many prisoners are now on the run as they try to put as much distance between them and security men who may already have swung into action in a bid to catch them.Among those believed to have broken out of prison are Soboma George and two others whose names were given as Imama and Adokiye.

The three have been standing trial for their alleged role in killing a young man, some say, might be a cult member.
A police source confirmed there had been such an incident when contacted on phone.

Friday night, there was a lot of shooting around Abuja estate, a waterfront settlement off Creek Road.
Residents frightened by the gun battle stayed in-doors as bullets flew overhead.

A source called by the Telegraph as the fighting erupted confirmed that guns were actually booming in the area.
If indeed Soboma is free, the thinking in cult and security circles is that Ateke Tom with whom he operated under the banner of the Vigilante might be is target.

They had stood together in the fight against Asari Dokubo, the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force and the IYC.
Now, both men are at daggers drawn, especially since Golden Kalio died and Senibo George vanished from the scene.
Said one source in relation to the jail break, "this is like a drama. Everything has gone to pieces"
Those who claim to be close to Soboma said he had been pained by the killing of Golden, and pained the more by the death of his brother and close associate, Senibo.

If Soboma is free, it would mean that he might be on a revenge mission.

Jail breaks are serious crimes and so Soboma and his associates who have fled prison would be wanted men.
They would be trailed by hordes of policemen, hunted by those who are afraid their aim is to kill them while violence may escalate.
