With a helping hand from the heavenly realm, Nigeria can still make it to the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany, Garba Lawal, a long standing Super Eagles utility player, has said.
Lawal, whose international career has spanned a period of 10 years, said in Kano after Nigeria's 1-1 draw with Angola that 'it is not over for the Eagles."
Lawal, who was grateful to God that Angola did not beat Nigeria in Kano, said with divine intervention, Angola could drop points in the run-in to the qualifiers, handing Nigeria the sole ticket in African Group Four to Nigeria.
'This is football and anything can still happen," Lawal said. 'Angola came here and got a draw and we can go to Algeria and win."
Lawal admitted that the players met after the heart-rending draw against Angola and agreed to do all that is necessary to qualify for the World Cup.
However, the former Julius Berger midfielder fell short of admitting the widespread indiscipline in the Eagles camp, which saw players reporting even on the eve of the match.
