Police authorities in Delta State have rearrested 13 of the over 100 inmates of the Ogwashi-Uku Prison who escaped in a major jail break on Friday following the burning of two sections of the prison.

The state police commissioner, Mr. Udom Ekpoudom, who disclosed this has also promised to investigate the incident, which also resulted in the killing of four of the fleeing inmates.
But investigation by Sunday Independent also revealed that no fewer than 181 inmates have been evacuated from the affected prison to Agbo Prison, while 32 inmates who fled were still reported missing.
Meanwhile, attempts by Sunday Independent to ascertain if Solomon Igbinedion and Onyeka Emordi standing trial in the killing of Chief Aminosoari Dikibo were among those who fled, have been unsuccessful, as prison officials are not forthcoming with information.
Sunday Independent's investigation revealed that the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Amos Utuama, is billed to visit the prison to ascertain the state of things.
At least 100 inmates of the Federal Prison, Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, escaped on Friday after setting the sections housing inmates and the administrative block where records are kept on fire.
But in a swift reaction, security operatives at the prison shot dead four of the fleeing prisoners, while the Assistant Comptroller in charge of the prison, Mr. Omishakin Ganiyu, also sustained injuries from gunshot in the process.
The incident was said to have been sparked off about 11a.m. on the fateful day when prison officials and security operatives tried to move an accused person to court for trial.
It was learnt that other inmates who had enjoyed tremendously from the generosity of the prisoner thought he was being taken out for elimination.
Some of the inmates were said to have transferred their aggression on Ganiyu who was held hostage when he was drawn to the scene. The protest was said to have culminated in setting two sections of the prison ablaze.
