KANO - SUPER Eagles skipper Austin Jay Jay Okocha, arrived Kano yesterday; trained with the team, and insisted his injury was not yet abated, but added that he was ready to risk aggravating it to play against Angola.
The Bolton Wanderers skipper told journalists shortly after the evening training session Wednesday that most of the players were hundred percent fit. Okocha expressed satisfaction with the Kano fans, saying the Eagles were happy with the " tremendous and overwhelming support."
Said he: "We are quite happy with the support from the Kano fans. As you can see, the stadium is almost full and I think it will be a great atmosphere on Saturday."
He confirmed a "personal disagreement" with chief coach Christian Chukwu, but declared it was over. "Whatever it was, it is all over now. We are in Kano to play ball to win and book our place to Germany 2006," he said.
Other players who spoke to Sports Vanguard also echoed sentiments of victory.
Joseph Yobo, Everton: "We will do our best here. The fans are ok."
Kanu Nwankwo, West Brom Albion: "We are determined to win, but we will need the prayers of all Nigerians. You can see we have a full squad and playing at home with the fans on our side. Definitely we are going to win."
Meanwhile, the Angolans arrived with a twenty five man team consisting of eighteen players and officials. They arrived at the Mallam Aminu International Airport on a chattered aircraft with a vow to demystify the Supper Eagles.
