Four clubs, one of them from the United States, are currently chasing the signature of Ndubisi Chukunyere. Since the Nigerian livewire was released by Hibernians earlier this month, he had various offers to consider but is taking his time to decide on his future.

Among the prospects is a move across the continent to the United States but so far the transfer is still at a preliminary stage.

Chukunyere has been plying his trade in Malta since 1996. As a young teenager he was brought over for a trial by Birkirkara but it was Hibernians who secured his services.

Another Nigeria-born player who could change club in the close season is Birkirkara's Chucks Nwoko.

Reports said Nwoko has attracted the interest of other Premier League clubs but so far none of them have asked to open negotiations for the 26-year-old midfielder.

Birkirkara have set their sights on Msida St Joseph goalkeeper Omar Borg. They are currently negotiating another contract with regular no.1 Justin Haber but are looking to strengthen their squad with another reliable goalkeeper as Saviour Darmanin's services will not be retained.

Last week, Birkirkara parted company with Haruna Doda who joined Hibernians. However, Nigerian compatriot Precious Monye will stay at Birkirkara after he accepted a new one-year contract.

Meanwhile, Hamrun Spartans are expected to ask Marsaxlokk to extend Nikolai Slavtchev's loan spell at the Division One champions.
