Students of the State University of Science have been ordered out of their hostels, following a break down in law and order and the inability of the authorities to take absolute charge of the situation which may have left three persons dead already.

The order, we gathered from the institution's Vice Chancellor, Professor Achinehu was given by the Senate.
For weeks, there has been growing unrest, with students increasingly accusing the university management under Achinehu of losing direction.

Last week, all hell let loose. Three persons believed to be students of the institution were hacked down in the most monstrous manner.

There are conflicting accounts of how and where the three students lost their lives.

While the university authorities would want the public to believe that the three-some, if they died at all, did so outside the campus, there are students who claim they were hacked down within.

Our information which the Vice Chancellor, Professor Achinehu disputed Sunday night in a phone chat is that the Black Axe believed to be on the war path with the Vikings may have threatened that blood would flow in the institution.

Said Achinehu who appeared angry on the phone, "It is the Senate that took the decision. It had nothing to do with any cult before you go and write the way you do."
He went on after the Telegraph asked for more facts, "If you want to know our position, reach the SSS, the Police or the Governor for the report that we wrote or come to my office."

Told by the Telegraph that it had production deadlines and would like him to throw more light on the issue, the professor insisted it had to be the next day and switched off.

Insiders reached say the professor may not have told the entire truth. Our sources disclose that the Black Axe has reportedly drawn a list of Vikings who would be likely targets in the ongoing war.

Whether this could have been the reason is not clear, but all the signs are that the university authorities may have thought the best in the circumstance was to order students to pack out of their hostels.

In the meantime, at least 28 persons have been allegedly arrested in the wake of the cult disturbance.
Under the law passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly, cultists if properly identified could spend as much 10 years in jail.
