It was a case of many days for the thief and one day for the owner of the house, when military personnel at an undisclosed barracks caught two cellphone thieves red-handed.

The two thieves named Ehis and Sa'adu, had for some time been traumatizing party guests at military barracks in various locations in Lagos, by stealing their cellphones and other valuables.

According to a reliable source, the barrack rats usually gate-crash into the venues of parties, dressed very well. Once in, they offer to help out by serving food, drinks and picking up empty bottles.

In the convivial setting of parties, guests relax, let down their hair and of course their guard. With the advantage of the guests' reduced sense of alertness, these sons of Belial move freely among the guests, and all the time busy stealing phones, loaded wallets, as well as other valuables.

As the source told Daily Sun, 'Each time we had parties here, the guests would complain to us that their handsets were stolen. The thing became too much of an embarrassment to us. Most of our guests are well-to-do and respectable people in the society."
So, when recently another Owambe was planned, the organizers of the party, working with the barracks security arm, set up a special team to monitor movements. The two thieves showed up as usual, oblivious of the fate awaiting them.

Soon after they went into operation, eagle-eyed security personnel nabbed them. After conducting a body search, several handsets were found on them. In the course of interrogation, they revealed that they work in small groups. Their targets are parties held in military barracks in various locations.
