Akunyili attempted murder: Suspects masterminded don's killing -SSS

The Director of Internal Security State Security Service (SSS), Mr. Christian Ojobor has told an Abuja High Court that the suspects in the attempted murder of the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Dora Akunyili masterminded the killing of the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Nigeria (UNN) Nsukka.

The SSS Director of Internal Security who is the investigating officer (IPO) in the case, said the suspects did not only hired hoodlums who carried the attack on the NAFDAC DG but also forged a lot of documents to cover up their actions.
He also said a Pump Action Gun (PAG) with license belonging to Chief Francis Okoye, one of the prime suspects and what looked like the shell of a spent ammunition were among the items handed over to the SSS by the police.

Mr. Ojobor who was giving evidence as prosecution witness No. 17 stated that, upon a letter date January 19, 2004, the Nigeria Police which were investigating the attempted assassination of the NAFDAC boss, tampered with the case file, an interim report on the matter as well as statements of the accused persons to the police and then to the SSS for further action as directed by President Olusegun Obasanjo.

According to him, 'we established that Chief Okoye has some complicity in the attempted murder. About September, 2003 he held a meeting at his private office at No. 26 Ugah Street, Onitsha where in attendance was Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mr. Christopher Okukira-Mba (alias persus); Nnamdi Nnakwe, Emeka Orjiakor, and one Mr. Abuchi Obidike (who has already given evidence in the matter as PW4), one other individual simply known as 2-pac (now deceased) and two other unidentified persons said to have come from Lagos."

He told the court that Nnamdi and his father Chief Marcel Nnamdi actively participated in the meeting as they were not happy with the NAFDAC DG because of the war against fake drugs, adding that 'I discovered that Nnamdi was at Ihiowa, Orlu in Imo State to coordinate the plot on December 26, 2003 and that he attempted recruiting one Okwudiri Uchechukwu and one 'symbad' now late, for the operation."

Commenting on the international passport tendered before the court by Mr. Nnamdi, the prosecution witness disclosed that contrary to the laws, Nnamdi has two valid international passports, being used at the same time, with Nos. A/8/9995 and AO556616."
He stated that a closer look at the documents showed that the documents were forged."
