A 33-year-old man, who just regained his freedom from Kirikiri Prison three weeks ago, after serving a three-year jail term for drug-related offences, may be heading back to the prison for stealing a motorcycle at gun point.

Mr. Ezekiel Okola and Azubuike Osondu, a bicycle repairer, were said to be in the business of snatching Okada from hapless operators.

According to the police in Kwale, Delta State, members of the gang usually lay ambush for unsuspecting motorcyclists, especially along bad roads and brandish their guns to rob.
"After each operation, they take the Okada to a hide out, where they sell for less than N40, 000," a policeman told Daily Sun.

Trouble however, came when the gang dispossessed a victim of his unregistered motorcycle at gun point along Abbi Road and took it to their hide out, where a receiver had agreed to pay N40, 000.

But before they could reap from the proceeds of the operation, they were arrested by the police who were acting on a tip-off.
Okola told Daily Sun he had just been released from jail after serving three years term for being in possession of 15 bags of Indian hemp valued at N1.5 million. He said he took to robbery after his release in order to reposition himself.

The suspects revealed how they usually convey Indian hemp from Abbi village in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, to Lagos in Coaster buses.
"We mix them up with other goods and settle the police at check point. I sold a bag of Indian hemp for N15, 000," he said.

The father of one disclosed that he was working in his farm when someone sold the idea of snatching motorcycles to him.
The DPO, Mr. Garba, told Daily Sun that the arrest of the suspects was as a result of appeal to members of the public to give the police useful information that could help to curb crime in the society.
