The dream of Super Eagles striker, John Utaka of playing in the Premiership next season is gradually becoming a reality as Manchester City signified intention, to sign the Lens forward on £2.5 million.
The Nigerian had told Daily Sunsport in Lagos after Super Eagles World Cup qualifier against Gabon in Port Harcourt that he was willing to shift base to England to join other national team mates in the premiership.
Utaka said going to England has been his greatest desire and he hopes to get a good club when the need arises.
But not too long, Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce came out with a long list of new players to be recruited for next season and the name of the Lens striker topped his shopping list.
Pearce's spies are raving about the 23-year-old target man as he had to send them after the Nigerian to watch him play on the final day of the French domestic season at the weekend.
Pearce is looking for a couple of new forwards to give Robbie Fowler some back-up and Utaka's name was mentioned as best alternative for Manchester City attacking formation.
Utaka has been surprisingly marvelous this season with the French club as he banged in goals at will, scoring as many as possible at every game.
Recently Utaka ensured that Lens got a deserving victory they needed to maintain their hopes of snatching UEFA Cup qualification by hitting a hat-trick in his side 5-2 win over Rennes.
The Nigerian striker struck twice before the break to cancel out Alexander Frei's opener, while he wrapped up his treble two minutes after Eric Carriere had struck Lens' third goal.
