The Delta State police command recently caught a five-member robbery going which allegedly specialises in the manufacturing of local guns. Among the five arrested were two undergraduates who claimed to be students of the University of Port-Hacourt, UNIPORT, Rivers State.
The Delta State police command recently caught a five-member robbery going which allegedly specialises in the manufacturing of local guns. Among the five arrested were two undergraduates who claimed to be students of the University of Port-Hacourt, UNIPORT, Rivers State.
Charles Akaya, commissioner of police, Delta State police command gave the names of the students arrested as Emeke Okoji and Kanayo Ojianyeagbu both of Ogwashi-Uku town and Umuonaje quarters, Asaba, respectively. He said Ifeachukwu Nwokobia and Yadi Eze were arrested at Akwukwu-Igbo. The fifth suspect died in the process of arrest.
Akaya, who paraded the suspects before pressmen at the command headquarters, Asaba, said the police followed a tip-off given to policemen on a pin-down duty along Ogwashi-Uku/Kwale road.
According to him, the five-man armed robbery suspects, invaded the new site quarter of Isheagu, Aniocha South Local Government area. Following a distress call, Police rushed to the scene and at the end of the gun duel, one of the robbers died of gunshot wounds while others escaped with bullets wounds.
