Ten dare devil Armed robbers yesterday raided Minna, Niger State branch of Habib Bank Nigeria Plc. killing four people and carting away an undisclosed amount of money.
Ten dare devil Armed robbers yesterday raided Minna, Niger State branch of Habib Bank Nigeria Plc. killing four people and carting away an undisclosed amount of money.
The operation, which lasted for almost 30 minutes caught the security network napping, as they operated without any counter attack by security agencies, despite the proximity of the Bank to both Central Police Station and office of Police Area Commander.
Eye witness account said the robbers came in three flashy cars, one Japanese Jeep, A Mercedes Benz 190 and a BMW car, with the Jeep used to block traffic along the ever busy Bosso Road, while the Benz served the robbers as patrol car and the BMW on standby.
Customers were held hostage, while four of the neatly dressed robbery gang headed for the bank's strong room, before taking all the money on the counter.
It was also gathered that the trigger happy men fired shots in the banking hall, shot the police sergeant (Umaru Abdullahi) who was the head of the bank security, for his effrontery to challenge their operation.
A serving Army officer, who was in the banking hall was also beaten to a state of coma, for trying to assist the slain police officer, while another customer (names withled) was shot in the leg.
