A number of Irish-born children were among a group of around 50 Nigerians deported to their home country this morning.

A number of Irish-born children were among a group of around 50 Nigerians deported to their home country this morning.

The 50 were arrested at various locations throughout the country yesterday evening and were held overnight at two detention centres in Dublin.

They were taken to the Nigerian city of Lagos on a special charter flight this morning.

The Irish Council for Civil Liberties has criticised the manner of the deportations, saying those affected had no clarity on what would happen to them when they arrived back in Nigeria.
