Ministry shocks Civil Defence corps with equipment


Wild jubilation enveloped the headquarters of Oyo State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps as official vehicles and office equipment for the effective working of the organisation arrived from Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The items, a Peugeot 406 saloon car, office equipment, which the command had applied for months back, arrived recently to the amazement of the officers.

The Oyo State Commandant of the corps, Mr. Elkanah Orunbato said: “This is what we have been waiting for to enable us improve on our work. Now that we have them, we feel encouraged by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to work harder.”

Orunbato, who spoke with Daily Sun, added that since the government had provided us with this, we have to wake up from our slumber to do our best to make sure that the lives and properties of the entire public are save.”

He commended officers of the Civil Defence Corps who he said had been working 24 hours to keep lives and property intact. He said: “You can see them in every nook and cranny of the society trying to check the activities of the hoodlums.

Supporting the Corps Marshal, the Civil Defence Corps spokesman, Mr. Bisi Olugboyega said: “Now that government has put smiles on our faces. We are ready to serve our fatherland. It is not only Oyo State command, other commands share the same blessing with us.”

Orunbato then added: “we appreciate the effort of the government, that Civil Defence Corps is ready to serve humanity.”
