President Oluegun Obasanjo at the weekend in Abuja called on Nigerian women to rise to the challenges of mobilising themselves to promote womanhood in the country. He gave the charge at the launch of "Women of Valour, Soldiers of the Cross," a non-government organisation, established by Mrs Mary Victoria Mbu.

The President, who was represented by the Minister for Women affairs, Obong Rita Akpan pledged government's support for women in the arduous task of repositioning themselves and urged Nigerian women not to despair in their efforts to bring about a sane society which would be the pride of all.
The Chairman of the occasion and former deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prince Chibudom Nwuche commended Mrs Mbu for translating her vision into reality. Nwuche noted that given the level of moral decadence in the country, the task ahead of women of valour was enormous, but he expressed the hope that with the calibre of people in the organisation, he had no doubt that the set goals would be achieved.
Inaugurating the organisation, Pastor Anslem Madubuko of Revival Assembly urged the members not to relent in their assignments.
