Kennery music creator and popular highlife musician, Oladipupo Owomoyela, a.k.a. Dr. Orlando Owoh, was, today, buried at his Agege, Lagos, home, as he directed before his death.

The late highlife maestro, whose burial attracted thousands of dignitaries, had directed his family to ensure that he must be buried in Lagos instead of Owo, his hometown, in Ondo state.

His journey home began yesterday, at the Lagos Television grounds, Agidingbi, where his corpse was brought, so his fans, associates and friends could pay their last respects.

At the ceremony were the factional chairmen of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Teemac and Dele Abiodun.

A burial service was held for him this morning, at the NYSC orientation camp, Iyana-Ipaja.

His corpse arrived in a cream-colour casket, worth N500,000, around 11.17 a.m and was borne by Aso-Oke-clad MIC pall bearers, who sang and danced round the camp with the coffin.

Thousands of his fans and family members were seen going into the camp to pay their last respects to their idol.

Meanwhile, P.M.News can reveal that the burial has cost the family over N5 million.

Investigations revealed that the governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Raji Fashola, gave the late highlife musician's family the sum of N2 million, while his Osun state counterpart also doled out N1 million.

Friends of the family and his London-based son, Tokunbo, who is a trained boxer, and others also contributed to the burial fund as well. P.M.News learnt that the family coughed out the sum of N1.2 million for the casket, motorcade, the pall bearers and other mortuary expenses, including the embalmment of the corpse.

Other expenses are renovation of the house, digging of the grave, borehole, paintings, decorations, entertainment and other things. Before Orlado Owoh was finally buried today, the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) staged a musical jamboree in his honour on Wednesday.

The all-night jamboree, led by Dele Abiodun, featured Queen Ayo Balogun, Shina Peters, Dayo Kujore, Esther Igbekele, Lore Idris Adisa, Dimeji Alabi, Daisi Orlando Owoh, Kunle Orlando Owoh and over 100 music stars, while his lying-in-state, at the Lagos Television, yesterday, was attended by representatives of the Lagos state governor, Opeyemi Fajemilehin, Jide Kosoko, Bashir Adisa( Baba Gboin), Dele Abiodun, King Jossy Friday, PMAN members, as well as teeming fans.
