Idris Moriamoh, a 14-year-old SS2 student of Gbaja High School, Surulere, has been detained by the police, for allegedly macheting the head of budget, Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area, Mr. Adeniyi Odutolu, on the head.
The incident occurred on New Year's eve, at Anjorin Street, Lawanson, during a disagreement between Moriamoh and Teniola, Mr. Odutolu's daughter, which had earlier been settled by neighbours.
P.M.News gathered that trouble started when Moriamoh's mother, Mrs. Idris, confronted Mrs. Odutolu, Teniola's mother, over the matter and this resulted in another round of fighting between the two mothers and their children.
Attempt by Mr. Odutolu to separate the two women resulted in his being macheted on the head by Moriamoh. The culprit, it was learnt, fled the scene immediately with members of her family.
Mr. Odutolu reported the matter to the police at Anjorin Street, Lawanson, and the culprit was arrested two days after, when she sneaked into the house to pack some of her belongings.
A twist was introduced to the matter when the complainant became the accused and was detained along with the other suspects accused of assault, by the police.
The officer-in-charge of the police post, DSP Okeke, said he used his discretion in detaining both parties overnight because he didn't want them to continue the fight in their homes. He later granted them bail and told them to report to the station daily for further investigation.
He also warned both parents to stop instigating their children against each other, and assured that Moriamoh would be made to learn a lesson from her action.
