A robbery suspect has confessed how his gang saved the sum of N2 million in a joint bank account.

A robbery suspect has confessed how his gang saved the sum of N2 million in a joint bank account.

The suspect, Shola Fashakin, 24, a native of Ondo State, before he was arrested by the police in Lagos, lived at 16, Sogbesan Street, Mosalasi, Agbado.

Police source revealed that there was a party at Oyebade Avenue, off Thomas Ekun Street, Alagbado, when Patrol 124 of Meiran Division received a distress call.

Swinging into action, the Divisional Police Officer, SUPOL Festus Otabor, led his team to the scene, where they saw several young men smoking Indian hemp. During a search, a locally made pistol was found tucked in Fashakin’s pants.

The suspect said: “I am a bricklayer. I became a full-time robber in July, 2008, through my gang leader, Tunde, who is now on the run alongside Seun and Samuel.

“We have a joint account of N2 million in our bank. We often terrorise people on AIT Road, Alagbado, and its environs. We have robbed in so many places, but I will just mention the ones I remember. We have robbed at Thomas Ekun Street, three times, in November, 2008.

“We also stormed Alhaji Yekini’s house, where we gang-raped his 11-year-old daughter and watched her bleed. We later collected a token of N70,000 from him and escaped. On the day I was arrested, we had trailed one big man to a party.”

The case has since been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, by the Investigating Police Officer, Constable Eke John, for further investigation.
