‘No More Street Trading In Oshodi' - KAI Boss

Corps Marshal of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), Captain Danjuma Maigeri (retd.), has vowed that his men will not allow the street traders recently displaced from Oshodi to return there.

Corps Marshal of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), Captain Danjuma Maigeri (retd.), has vowed that his men will not allow the street traders recently displaced from Oshodi to return there.

Maigeri, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to governor Babatunde Fashola on Environmental Matters, said his men would, henceforth, keep a permanent surveillance on the recalcitrant traders.

Speaking in a television programme, Maigeri said it was by keeping illegal traders at bay, permanently, that the state government can develop Oshodi like Bourdillon in Ikoyi or Victoria Island.

The KAI boss also revealed government's plan to commence work on a modern drainage at Oshodi and its environs very soon.

The KAI boss explained that unlike what happened during the reign of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, when Oshodi street traders, after a raid by the outfit, would beg the governor and the latter would listen to their entreaties and allow them back to the area, the incumbent governor has decided to put a permanent stop to their activities there.

'Governor Fashola has asked us to deal with the matter once and for all. Traders will not be allowed to return to the roadsides in Oshodi. 'I have achieved my aim. The DPO at Oshodi has not reported cases of petty stealings or armed robberies under the Oshodi bridge to me in the last two days,' he said.

He expressed KAI's determination to forcefully evict filthy people who were hell bent on spoiling Lagos, warning that: 'If you want to spoil Lagos, we shall not allow you, but you can go back to your village to spoil it.'
