A middle-aged man, identified as Olawale Akinbo, was, yesterday afternoon, killed by a Toyota Corolla car with Lagos registration number RW 533 KJA.

The incident occurred at about 2p.m., in front of the headquarters of Independent Communications Network Limited, publishers of TheNEWS and P.M.News. The victim was crushed minutes after he left the Redeemed Christian Church of God, on Acme Road, Agidingbi, Lagos.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the vehicle came from an undisclosed destination and drove recklessly on high speed. When the front tyre of the car burst, he swerved from the other side of the road and hit Akinbo from the right side.

P.M.News gathered that Akinbo had left the church to have a walk before he met his untimely death. His family members were still in the church when the accident occurred.

A car belonging to Ernest Omoarelojie, a staff of Independent Communications Network Limited, with registration number DP 531 GGE was badly damaged by the other car. The remains of Akinbo were later removed and taken to an undisclosed mortuary, by policemen from Isokoko station. The body was conveyed in a bus made available by members of the Redeemed Church.
