Special Adviser to the Lagos state governor on political and legislative matters, Barrister Abdul-Hakeem Abdul Lateef, has called on Nigerians, as well as the newly appointed federal ministers, to join hands with the federal government toward a reformed nation.

Barrister Abdul-Hakeem made this appeal at the closing ceremony of the 15th Islamic Training Programme (ITP) organised by The Muslim Congress (TMC), and held at Government College, Ikorodu, between 28 and 31 December, 2008, with the theme, 'Towards A Reformed Nation.'

Barrister Abdul-Hakeem said: 'President Umar Yar'Adua is trying his best, but Nigerians need to help him and the country with prayers, and the new set of ministers that have been appointed should co-operate with the president in order to discharge their duties efficiently and effectively, in the interest of the country.'

He urged president Yar'Adua to concentrate more on electricity so that Nigerians will enjoy uninterrupted power supply. 'Nigeria is blessed with enough resources for us to have uninterrupted power supply and we should ensure that those who are contractors in generators should understand that the interest of the nation is more than that of an individual,' he stated.

In his own comment, Dr. Abdul-Hakeem Mobolaji, from the United Kingdom, said the society is experiencing the problem of moral decadence, adding that whatever method to be adopted in reforming the people and the society should be the people's focus.
