GOVERNOR Olusegun Agagu of Ondo State, yesterday, flagged-off the construction of a N740m Banquet Hall with a sitting hall capacity of 1,008 in Akure.
According to Agagu, the new banquet hall would have hall foyer, offices, VIP lounge, changing rooms, preparatory, store and kitchen and delivery bay.
A cheque of N300m, being 50 per cent of the contract sum, was handed over to the contractor by the governor.
He added that the construction of a befitting secretariat for the Council of Obas by the government has reached an advanced stage, and that the two projects would be completed next year.
Agagu said the government would, next year, construct another 300 units of six classroom blocks while it would provide books, teachers' guide and instructional materials, furniture for pupils and teachers and computers.
Government, he added, has approved the construction of two faculty buildings in the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, for N246bn.
The governor said 50 per cent of the cost of construction has been released to the contractors while the building is expected to be completed next year.
According to him, contract for the administrative building, the library, auditorium, school of sciences, engineering and information and communication technology, the student centre and the Houses of the principal officers have been awarded.
