The Federal Executive Council (FEC) chaired by President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua yesterday approved the full payment of all entitlements owed the ex-defunct staff of the Nigeria Airways. The council approved N2.116billion.

Another approval grantract for the relocation of the police pension's office. It is to cost N381.88million.
Also okayed is a N238.88million contract for the purchase of 20 Almarine/Yamaha A27 water bus boats with spare parts for the Nigerian Custom Service.
The contract for the complexion of the presidential wing of the Shehu Shagari presidential complex, Abuja was also awarded for N89.80million.
The new Minister of Information and Communication, Prof. Dora Akunyili, who briefed State House correspondents, said the meeting, which started with the swearing in of 16 ministers gave approvals for other important projects.
According to her, the council approved that the former staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways should be paid N2.116 billion, which is the full and final payment of their entitlements.
She noted to surmount the great difficulties faced by police pensioners, such as accident, armed robbery attacks, lack of transport fare to travel to Lagos from the nooks and crannies of the country to attend to their pension matters, FEC approved the purchase of an office complex for the Police Pension Office at No. 514 Sylvester U. Ugo Crescent, Jabi Abuja for N381, 88 million.
"The effective relocation of the office to Abuja following the approval to purchase the office complex will overcome the attendant administrative and operational difficulties of the Police Pension Office," Mrs. Akunyili said.
