Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio has expressed shock at the death of some men of the Joint Task Force (JTF), who were killed by the Niger Delta militants in Eket about two weeks ago.
Until their death, the deceased were attached to ExxonMobil plant in Eket.

They were killed when the convoy taking Mobil workers to the QIT oil platform in Ibeno was ambushed by the militants.

Although the JTF foiled the attempt to kidnap the expatriate workers of the oil giant, some of the security men were seriously hit. They were flown to an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Akpabio commiserated with the management of Mobil and the victims' families when the management of the oil giant visited him at the Government House, Uyo.

He assured them of adequate protection and security of oil installations.

The team led by the Managing Director and Country Manager, Mr. Mark Ward, thanked Akpabio for sustaining the cordial relationship with Mobil.
