Nemesis has finally caught up with two deadly armed robbers terrorising motorists along the Third Mainland bridge.
They were shot dead at about 3 a.m., Sunday, along Osborne Road, Ikoyi, after an encounter with policemen attached to the anti-robbery squad of the Adeniji-Adele Police Station, Lagos.
Policemen at the station confirmed that motorists and residents of Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Dolphin Estate and Lagos Island, who had fallen victims of the robbers, had written numerous petitions to the police on the activities of the hoodlums.
Police investigations revealed that the two dead robbers were members of an armed gang operating from a tiny village called Ilubinrin, Lagos Island. Their mode of operation is to mount roadblocks along the ever busy express road and attack their victims.
Some residents of Lagos Island who had fallen victim of the robbers, thronged the Adeniji-Adele Police Station to catch a glimpse of the dead robbers. Items recovered from them include toy guns, expensive jewelery and cash.
