A middle-aged man, identified as Da Silva Julian Peter, was, last night, crushed to death at Agege, Lagos state, by a train.
P.M.News learnt that the victim, who is deaf and dumb, was, until his death, a staff at the furniture department of NIPOST. He was said to have fallen from the top of a moving train on his way from work. When P.M.News got to the scene of the accident, the mangled body of the victim was seen scattered all over the railway line, at Agege.
Investigations at his residence, 4, Adeleye Street, Agbado Crossing, Ifo, Ogun state, revealed that he was a Togolese working in Nigeria. His wife, Mrs. Da Silva Julian Peter, who is said to be dumb and deaf too, was not around but neighbours told P.M.News that they were aware of the accident.
They explained that somebody phoned them yesterday, to inform them about the tragedy, adding that the wife might have gone to meet relations of the deceased to make arrangements to remove the corpse from the scene of the accident.
A neighbour described the deceased as a quiet man who hardly associated with neighbours, adding that he had a grown up son, who is a soldier in the Togo Army. A police source at the Railway Police Divisional Command, Agege, confirmed the story, adding that relations of the deceased have been contacted.
