Parents have been urged to play an exemplary role in guiding their children against the dreaded HIV/AIDS scourge.
Chairman of Ikeja Local Government Area, Hon. Wale Odunlami, gave this advice while delivering his speech at this years World AIDS Day celebration, held at the council secretariat.
In his speech, entitled: ‘The Roles of Fathers in the Education of HIV/AIDS,' Hon. Odunlami said: 'The roles of fathers in stemming the spread of AIDS and HIV starts from their ability to provide for the home.
'In these days of heavy economic burden, most fathers, who are traditionally supposed to be the breadwinners, find it difficult in providing for the home and this makes our children and wards vulnerable to the pranks of deceivers who lure them away.'
He explained that his administration would increase the campaign and awareness drive to all stakeholders, especially to the youths and adolescents.
