Governor to Buhari, Atiku: Let's move Nigeria forward

Chairman of Northern Governors' Forum, Dr. Mu'azu Aliyu of Niger State has called on General Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to assist President Umaru Yar'Adua to move the country forward after their loss at the Supreme Court.

Chairman of Northern Governors' Forum, Dr. Mu'azu Aliyu of Niger State has called on General Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to assist President Umaru Yar'Adua to move the country forward after their loss at the Supreme Court.

Aliyu said now that the case challenging the mandate of the President was over, all hands must be on deck for the progress of the country.

Speaking at a symposium on "Poverty eradication in Northern States" at the weekend in Zaria,
Aliyu asked the duo to put the case behind them and join Yar'Adua in nation building.

He said the duo had vital roles to play in the development of the country, adding that this can only be achieved when they (Buhari and Atiku) join hands and co-operate with the government.

The governor also said the country needs the experience of the two leaders, advising that the President should further extend his olive branch to them.

"We need the doggedness of Buhari in today's Nigeria and we also need the political dexterity of Atiku, hence, we call on them to co-operate with President Yar'Adua."Aliyu said.

General Buhari, the Presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and his counterpart in the Action Congress (AC), Atiku, contested the victory of President Yar'Adua of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In its ruling on Friday, the apex court upheld the election of the President, putting to rest all legal tussles against his election poll.
