The Police in Lagos are holding a man who has been parading himself as a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
The suspect was arrested at Dopemu Police Station where he sought audience with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO).

Onabanjo Tunbosu, a SPY policeman attached to an oil firm on Victoria Island, Lagos, has been impersonating as a DCP, to intimidate, harass and extort unsuspecting members of the public.

He was arrested when he visited the police station to see a policeman.

His friend, who did not know he was fake, took him to his DPO.

He introduced himself as DC Operations in Lagos State command.

The DPO was said to have saluted him and they exchanged pleasantries.

But as he was leaving the police station, a fellow SPY policeman, who knows him very well, told the DPO that the suspect is a SPY policeman. He was immediately arrested.

The 45-year-old suspect said he paraded himself as such for easy passage.

He said: "I do not wear the rank or uniform of a DC. What I do is that anytime we are on an assignment from my office, I will introduce myself as a DC for easy passage."

Also paraded was a dismissed Police Constable.

The suspect, Godwin Ezekiel, who is a member of Man ‘O' War, was dismissed from service for shooting an innocent citizen while on patrol duty.

But he goes about parading himself as a policeman, extorting and carrying out illegal escort of vehicles both within and outside Lagos State.

He was arrested at Mile 12 by a policeman who suspected him and decided to interrogate him.

The suspect, said: "I was dismissed from the police because of accidental discharge. We were on patrol when we got information that robbers were operating and immediately we sighted seven vehicles coming towards our direction and I opened fire. I did not know that it was not the robbers."

The command's spokesman, Frank Mba, who paraded the suspects on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Marvel Akpoyibo, said they would be charged to court.
