Mr. Akintola Akinjogbin, father of the corps member, Ibukun, who was murdered last week, in a violent protest which occurred in Jos, the Plateau state capital, has pleaded for the remains of his son to be released to the family for immediate burial.

Mr. Akintola Akinjogbin, father of the corps member, Ibukun, who was murdered last week, in a violent protest which occurred in Jos, the Plateau state capital, has pleaded for the remains of his son to be released to the family for immediate burial.

According to a family source, the mother of the boy has been hospitalised as a result of the trauma of having to wait for her son's corpse indefinitely.

'We want to put this sad event behind us, so let the NYSC Director-General, Major-General Yusuf Bomoi, release the remains of Ibukun to us. The father initially wanted to take some other measures, but now, we have concluded to address the press by 12 noon tomorrow, Thursday, at the deceased's family's residence in Meiran, Ojokoro, Lagos.

'The excuse the NYSC DG gave was that decision is yet to be reached with the Plateau state government. But don't forget that they have earlier promised us that the body would arrive Lagos yesterday.

'We want Nigerians to prevail on the NYSC and the Plateau state government to release the remains of our son to us. We don't want to lose two people because the mother is already ill and in the hospital,' said the source.
