Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) across the country, Monday, embarked on an indefinite strike to protest federal government's reluctance to implement the unified salary structure for them.
Addressing journalists yesterday, Chairman of the Ikeja branch of the NBA, Mr. James Ajetumobi, said NBA chapters in Ikeja, Ikorodu and Lagos, have decided to wade into the crisis with a view to profer a lasting solution to the perennial strikes by JUSUN.
Mr. Ajetumobi said the Lagos NBA has already received the blessings of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice to mediate in the crisis. He disclosed that the effort would focus only on judiciary workers in Lagos state.
Also speaking at the briefing, Chairman of the Lagos branch of the NBA, Mr. Bola Baderinwa, explained that the aim of the intervention was to find a lasting solution to the strikes in such a way that both the Lagos state government and the workers would be happy.
Mr. Baderinwa added that the Lagos NBA would ensure success of the mediation effort so that other states of the federation can take a cue from the Lagos example. Chairman of the Ikorodu chapter of the NBA, Mr. Tony Ebeh, expressed optimism that the striking judicial workers would soon return to their duty posts.
