Senior pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, Lagos, pastor Tunde Bakare, has warned that if the case involving the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, is not properly handled, it can boomerang.
Bakare gave the warning yesterday, in a chat with newsmen. According to him, the manner with which government is treating Ribadu is capable of discouraging competent people interested in serving the nation in the future, adding that Ribadu should be charged to court if he was found to have committed any crime.
According to him, 'what they have done to Ribadu and the way he is being treated can discourage people who want to serve this country with all their heart. If he has committed any crime, let him be taken to the appropriate court.'
The cleric also criticised the role played by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Michael Aondoakaa, in the matter. He said it is unfortunate that we have an AGF who claims ignorance of issues relating to justice in the system, adding, 'I am grossly disappointed about that.'
Bakare alleged that government was being run in secrecy and that the recent administration of oath of secrecy on officials at the Presidency, was to further gag the people from saying what happens in government.
