SSS Disowns Gov. Daniel's Aide

The State Security Service (SSS), Ogun state, has disowned the aide of governor Gbenga Daniel, who allegedly assaulted Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, in Ogbomosho, a fortnight ago.

The State Security Service (SSS), Ogun state, has disowned the aide of governor Gbenga Daniel, who allegedly assaulted Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, in Ogbomosho, a fortnight ago.

In a statement, issued in Abeokuta, on Friday, the Ogun SSS said the aide who shoved the Senator aside is a personal security aide of the governor's and not an SSS operative.

The SSS revealed that Frank Osakwe, who was mentioned by the Senator, is a bonafide operative of the service, but was not in Ogbomosho on the day of the incident. It wondered how Senator Obasanjo-Bello came about his name.

Contacted for further clarification, the Director of SSS in Ogun state, Mr. Mike Ejiofor, declined comment. 'My service has issued a statement on the matter. That should be enough information for your paper,' he said.

A source revealed that the security personnel who had an altercation with Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello in Ogbomosho, had been a personal body guard of governor Gbenga Daniel, even before he became governor.

When P.M.News contacted Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello on the mix-up in the name of the security operative, she said Frank Osakwe was said to be the official SSS operative attached to the governor on that day.

She disclosed that since the aide who confronted her was said to be an official of the SSS, she felt it was Osakwe, not knowing that he was one of governor Daniel's private guards. The senator was said to have apologised to the SSS for the mix-up.
