A 31-year-old self acclaimed virgin, Sunday Chima, has been arrested by the police, at Idimu, for allegedly raping his neighbour's six-year-old girl.
A 31-year-old self acclaimed virgin, Sunday Chima, has been arrested by the police, at Idimu, for allegedly raping his neighbour's six-year-old girl.
Sunday was alleged to have raped the victim (names withheld) at their residence, 3, Shodipo Street, Arobaba, Idimu, when the parents of the victim had left for work.
P.M.News gathered that the suspect, who claimed to be a virgin, invited the victim to his shop on the day of the incident and told her that his doctor asked him to bring his sperm for medical test. He was said to have forcefully had sex with the girl.
Investigations revealed that the little girl reported the incident to her parents who confronted the accused. He reportedly confessed to the crime, adding that he did not penetrate the girl but only slept on her to produce sperm as demanded by his doctor. The angry parents reported the matter to the police and he was arrested.
Efforts by the accused to settle the matter amicably with the parents of the victim were frustrated by the police who insisted that the crime was against the law of the state.
He was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate's Court for rape, an offence punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2003. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.
The magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused, while the other must be a civil servant of at least Grade Level 7. The matter has been adjourned till 15 December, for hearing.
