A 28-year-old commercial motorcyclist (Okada rider) who uses his motorcycle to rob passengers and rape female passengers at the Abule Egba cemetery, is currently cooling his heels in a police cell, at Elere, Agege, a suburb of Lagos.

He was arrested by a member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and handed over to the police. The suspect, Mayowa Akinlabi, resides with his wife and four children, at Ayobo, Ipaja, Lagos.

P.M.News gathered that one of his victims (names withheld) reported him to the OPC woman leader in Abule Egba, who mobilised her members to arrest him.

In her statement to the police, the victim said she closed from work and stopped the suspect on his Okada to take her to Ota Road, near Oke-Odo, her parents house. Instead of doing so, he allegedly diverted to the Abule Egba cemetery where he raped the sales girl. The victim added that he threatened to shoot her if she made any noise.

Police sources also confirmed that the suspect, on Friday, around 7.30 p.m., raped a married woman (names withheld), who left her house in Opebi, Ikeja, to see her younger brother at Abule-Egba, at the cemetery.

In his confession to the police, the suspect narrated: 'I have been having sex with ladies and young girls inside this Abule-Egba burial ground for a long time. I was contracted by a herbalist who gave me a green ring to put in the third finger of my left hand when having sex with them. And after the enjoyment, I will return the ring to the herbalist and get paid N2,000.

'I really did not know what he used the ring for but I am just concerned with sex and money. I also rob people of their money and belongings.' Investigations revealed further that the mother of one of his victims reported the plight of her daughter to the OPC leader in Abule Egba, Mrs. Fatimoh Olatoyinbo, who mobilised her members to arrest the suspect.

Speaking with P.M.News, Mrs. Olatoyinbo said her organisation had received several complaints about the activities of a certain Okadaman who was taking women to the burial ground at Abule Egba to rape them.

'One of his victims, who jumped down from his Okada when he was taking her to the cemetery, was dragged back there and raped. The lady is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. Nemesis caught up with him when one of his victims recognised him and promptly reported to her mother. The mother briefed me and I got him arrested.

'A native doctor (babalawo) who called himself ‘Apena' pleaded with me to forgive him but I said no and handed him over to the Divisional Police Officer at Elere, CSP Adebisi,' the OPC leader stated.
