As the feud between governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun state and Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello continues to generate disquiet in the state, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) in Ogun state during the 14 April, 2007 elections, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, said he has been vindicated.
Speaking with P.M.News, the former senator said: 'When I had cause to disagree with governor Daniel, I was referred to as the aggressor in government circles. But the current ill-treatment of Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, by the governor's security aides, has clearly brought to the fore, the real aggressor in Ogun state'.
Amosun, who is challenging Daniel's victory at the last governorship election in court, said: 'All that they are saying is that Sarafa Ishola is not good, Lekan Mustapha is bad, Tokunbo Oshin is not good, Martins Kuye is not good, Obasanjo is not good, Anisulowo is not good, Amosun is bad, I can continue mentioning names. Now, we know who is really not good.'
The ANPP governorship candidate said what happened to Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello could happen to anybody and condemned the way the security agent treated a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
'It is very bad. How could a security agent treat the daughter of a former president and a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that way. In 2003, when I was in the PDP and I raised an alarm over the choice of Daniel as governorship candidate, everybody said I was talking rubbish, but with what has been happening in the state, I have been vindicated.'
Amosun, who condemned the level of intolerance displayed by the present administration in the state, prayed that the 'spirit of the good people of Ogun state will chase out the evil force that has enveloped the state'.
Senator Amosun appealed to Senator Obasanjo-Bello to remain focused and concentrate on her duties for the benefit of Nigerians, adding that she should not succumb to blackmail from any quarter. The ANPP governorship candidate said he would continue to appeal to the conscience of the people of Ogun state on the need to shun politics of blackmail and intimidation.
