The general public has been invited by the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) Brigade, the law enforcement arm of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment, to a public auction of some items confiscated from street traders.
Items to be auctioned include motorcycles, footwears, carpet, furniture, home appliances, such as DVD, home theatre and television sets. The exercise is slated for Monday, 24 November, at the KAI office premises in Alausa, Ikeja. Also, containers, refrigerators and vulcanising machines, among other things, would be auctioned.
Speaking with Lagos Bulletin, head of the agency, Captain Danjuma Maigeri (rtd), stated that the exercise was in accordance with the governor's directive through the Ministry of the Environment.
According to Maigeri, the items are those that were abandoned by their owners who did not want to face the law and which have been kept for more than six months. The KAI boss urged street traders to desist from the illegal act as the outfit has declared total war on offenders. Maigeri also stated that the auction is open to the general public except Lagos state government and KAI officials.
