A popular hip-hop musician, based in Lagos, Basil Okon Edet, a.k.a Pasto Goody Goody, has been arrested by the police over the death of 29-year-old Lucky Omozokpea.
A popular hip-hop musician, based in Lagos, Basil Okon Edet, a.k.a Pasto Goody Goody, has been arrested by the police over the death of 29-year-old Lucky Omozokpea.
According to information made available to P.M.News, at Ajao Police station, this morning, Basil was arrested for ordering his boys to beat up the victim. Speaking with P.M.News, the brother of the deceased, Mr. Sunny Omozokpea, a resident of 12, Ola Adeshile Street, Ajao Estate, said his brother, a graduate of Ambrose Alli University, had just secured employment with the Lagos Television, Ikeja.
The deceased was said to be on his way to work yesterday, when he discovered that Pasto Goody Goody's car was blocking the gate. The victim, who was on his bike, called on the musician to come and remove his car but he refused and this led to an argument.
Narrating how his brother died, Sunny Omozokpea said: 'He called his boys to come and deal with the victim, and he was beaten to a coma. We rushed him to the Ikeja General Hospital, but he couldn't make it and died after a few hours. Pasto Goody Goody also followed us to the hospital, and when he saw that my brother was dead, he tried to escape. But we held him and took him to Ajao Police station, where he is being detained.'
When P.M.News visited the police station, the DPO was not around to confirm the arrest but the musician was seen inside the cell. A police source said that efforts are being made to transfer the matter to the SCID, Panti.
