Forgers Of Kingibe's Signature Docked


A forgery case, filed against two men, Lemmy Jerry and Okoye Henry, alleged to have forged the signature of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, has been adjourned till 25 November.

A forgery case, filed against two men, Lemmy Jerry and Okoye Henry, alleged to have forged the signature of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, has been adjourned till 25 November.

The accused were arraigned last Tuesday, but, neither the duo nor the prosecutor was present in court when the case was mentioned yesterday.

The five-count criminal charge filed against them at a Federal High Court in Lagos, by the Assistant Legal Adviser, Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr. D.I. Babale, alleged that the accused, sometime in August, this year, conspired to forge the signature of Ambassador Kingibe and also forged the letter-head paper of the president of Nigeria.

The accused were also alleged to have impersonated Ambassador Kingibe by writing a letter to the Ambassador of Italy, in his (Kingibe) name. The offences are punishable under sections 467, 390 and 484 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.33, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
