The chairman of Alimoso Local Government Area of Lagos state, Olusola Adekunle, has lamented the rate of devastation caused by flooding in some parts of the council, especially the Jimoh and Miccom areas.

Speaking with P.M.News after his maiden tour of the local government recently, the chairman called on the state governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to extend his magnanimous policy on finding a lasting solution to flooding in the state, to his area.

He said the endemic situation caused by flood in the local government area calls for immediate attention, calling on the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Ministry of the Environment, to come to the council's aid in addressing the problem.

The people of the area were caught unawares, as the chairman moved around the seven wards in the local government to identify the areas of priority for urgent attention.

Adekunle frowned at the poor sanitation situation in most of the markets he visited, especially the Iyana Ipaja Market and resolved that street hawking, trading and begging be stopped in the area. He also ordered that blocked drainages at the market be cleared within one week, otherwise, the market would be closed.

Places visited by the new chairman include Orisunbare Health Post, Akowonjo Primary Health Centre and Goye Health Centre as well as the palace of the Baale of Akowonjo and that of his Orisunbare counterpart.
