Sex Club Shut: Manager, 5 Others Arrested

Following P.M.News' expose on the activities of the Ocean Blue Nite Club at Ikeja, where ladies dance naked and engage in open sex for the entertainment of their patrons, the Lagos state government, yesterday, moved swiftly to shut down the club.

Following P.M.News' expose on the activities of the Ocean Blue Nite Club at Ikeja, where ladies dance naked and engage in open sex for the entertainment of their patrons, the Lagos state government, yesterday, moved swiftly to shut down the club.

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, popularly known as the taskforce, swooped on the nite club, located in a duplex, adjacent to Sensation Bus Stop, Opebi Roundabout, around 6 p.m., yesterday, and shut it down.

The task force, led by its chairman, Bayo Sulaiman, a Superintendent of Police (SUPOL), also arrested the manager of the club, the bar tender, three ladies and the disc jockey (DJ).

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the taskforce, Mr. Ayotunde Hundogan, told P.M.News that the task force acted on the order of the state government, following P.M.News' report of Friday, captioned: 'Sex On Stage At Lagos Nite Club.'

Taskforce boss, Sulaiman, said the state government decided to shut the club down because it realised that the place was a residential area and not a place where immoral act should be exhibited.

According to him, the taskforce shut down the club at exactly 6p.m., yesterday, adding that the owner of the duplex changed it into a nite club without the approval of the state government.

He added that renovation was also going on there without government's approval. P.M.News had reported, last Friday, about the strange and immoral act going on at the nite club where beautiful ladies strip and engage in open sex under the watching eyes of their patrons.

The patrons, mostly men, show appreciation to the strippers by throwing money at them. About 12 girls were reported last Friday, to have danced stark-naked in the full glare of the large crowd while some of the girls gave a ‘lap dance' to whoever could afford to pay them N1,000.

At the peak of the show, some patrons who paid N4,500 were ushered into the VIP hall, a dark hall inside the club, where they could do anything with the girls.

The money is said to be shared between the club management and the particular girl who takes care of the patron. While the stripper receives N2,000 for the job, the other N2,500 goes into the purse of the club as entrance fee to the VIP hall. The Ocean Blue Club, apart from its strippers, is also a den of pornographic films and other immoral vices.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have condemned activities at the club and called on the government to shut it down, which has been done. A reader on the internet, Mr. Tunji A., expressed shock at the report, describing it as 'Sodom and Gomorrah on the way.' According to another reader, who identified himself as De Virus, 'High way to the grave. Note that strippers will soon turn to be slippers|'

Another reader, Mr. Bayo Kayode, wrote: 'Thank you for this exposure. I wonder what some satanic people want to turn our society into. Lagos state government should find out the owners of this joint and whether those places are operating according to the licences approved for them. I am sure more are still to come if not quickly checked. This will have a serious impact on our youth.'

Arilo simply said: 'This is madness.'

According to Joy: 'May God have mercy. What is this world turning into? Without mincing words, the girls are working for the devil and those who patronize them are under serious demonic attacks. What a shame that our policemen kept mute over this while they molest innocent citizens on the road. May God deliver us from these agents of destruction?'

Another reader reacted thus: 'Sodom and Gomorrah NOT on the way, rather MANIFESTED. Please SHUT the damned club. Enough of freedom of sin.'

According to Samuel: 'The world is coming to an end. May God help us. Amen'

Emeka said: 'It is an abominable act and I believe the government should close such a place. It is very bad between man and God. We need divine intervention in this country'

According to Samson O. : 'We should remember the end of Sodom and Gomorrah, Yes, God is a merciful God, yet He is a consuming fire. Those organising and partaking in this should stop it to avoid God's judgment.' Another reader, Mr Chukwuemaka Nwosu, simply said: 'What is this country turning into? Soon, we shall be having issues of same-sex marriages conducted!'
