An enraged husband, Abdu-Mumin Jimoh, has dragged his 23-year-old wife, Mrs. Modinat Jimoh, before an Agege Grade ‘A' Customary Court, seeking the dissolution of their marriage.
In his petition, the 41-year-old husband accused his wife of being stubborn and discourteous, adding that her demands were far too much for him to meet.
'We got married early this year, but I have not enjoyed the marriage a bit. My parents were against our marriage from the outset, but I ignored them. She packed her belongings out of our matrimonial home one day without my knowledge.
'I would have come to the court for the dissolution of the marriage a long time ago, but because I wanted to observe the tenets of islam. I gave her three months of grace. But now it has elapsed. It is now four months and I want the court to dissolve the marriage,' Jimoh said.
Responding to the allegations, the 23-year-old wife said: 'I did not pack my belongings out of the house. He did. I want the dissolution of the marriage too because he is a blatant liar. He is not trustworthy.
'Before I married him, he promised to get me my own accommodation so that I will not live with his first wife. He failed in this regard,' she told the court.
In his ruling, the court president, Chief Emmanuel Kolawole Bruce, dissolved the childless marriage and warned both parties to maintain peace.
