Arrangements are now in top gear, by the Ojude Oba Festival organising committee, to ensure that this year's edition of the annual carnival is hitch-free.
The committee's secretary, Otunba Silaru Alatishe, assured that this year's festival, usually marked three days after the sallah celebrations by muslims in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, would be a colourful one.
The festival, which was first celebrated over 100 years ago by the first muslim converts in Ijebuland, usually features a parade by various youth groups including the Regberegbe, Balogun and Dodondawa who are descendants of war heroes, as well as performances by popular musicians.
Corporate organisations sponsoring the event this year, include First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Wema Bank Plc, Maltina, Globacom, Fan Milk, Seven-Up, Multichoice, among others.
According to the organisers, this year's festival, with the theme: Raising the Bar to Achieve Excellence, will witness the unveiling of the prototype of the proposed new Ojude Oba venue.
