The party says a situation where a government can sack 20 ministers at a go suggests that all along, other base considerations informed the choice of these ministers and their retention for a whole eighteen months while the nation flounders in a most bizarre absence of governance.
In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos state Publicity Secretary of the Action Congress, Joe Igbokwe, Lagos AC insists that the sacking of twenty ministers means the complete fall of governance and said that the PDP and the Yar'Adua presidency which burdened the nation with these dead woods, even at the risk of grounding Nigeria, should be held collectively responsible for this grievous blunder. It calls on the Yar'Adua government to own up and either put up immediate measures to recover the grounds the country has lost through this deadwood government or resign to allow Nigeria to recover from the doldrums of the past nine years.
'While we believe that cabinet reshuffle is inevitable, especially with the poor and lack luster performance of the Yar'Adua government in the last eighteen months, we insist that sacking twenty ministers in a single cabinet reshuffle is tantamount to admitting that this government has irretrievably failed. Above all, their recruitment speaks of the quality of government that appointed them in the first instance. Their dismal performance that necessitated their sack speaks volumes of the party from where they were recruited to become regrettable liabilities to Nigeria. The failure of the Yar'Adua government has become an embarrassing cross Nigerians have been bearing soon after the grand investment of governance with all manners of duplicity and fraud by the Obasanjo government for eight years.
'Lagos AC feels vindicated in its insistent contention that values lower and more base than the common interest guides the adventure of the PDP in the governance of the country. The low and abysmal performance that has hobbled the country in the past nine years bears witness to this contention.'
