Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, has called for a thorough probe of the N2.3 billion car-purchase scandal currently rocking the House of Representatives.
Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, has called for a thorough probe of the N2.3 billion car-purchase scandal currently rocking the House of Representatives.
Okogie made the call after a courtesy visit to governor Babatunde Fashola. According to him, whether the allegation was true or not should be investigated.
'The problem with our people is this, whenever they see money, they want to spend it. 'Tell me, why should somebody talk about buying cars? The masses are suffering and all that we are hearing from the National Assembly is billions of naira and how they will spend it,' he said.
The Archbishop lamented that past probes by government had come to naught due to improper follow up. 'If you set up a probe, you must carry it to a logical conclusion, but unfortunately, in Nigeria, it is not so. Why must our country be different? It is because we are not just to ourselves. We don't love one another, we only go there for the money,' he stated.
